Night Curfew: Today in Delhi night curfew has been imposed till April 30 to tackle a huge rise in Covid-19 cases after the country reported over 1 lakh cases in a single day.
The “sudden increase in Coronavirus cases” needed a night curfew, the Delhi Government said in its order.
Officials said “During night curfew hrs (10 PM-5 AM), those going for vaccinations and the movement of essential services will be allowed with e-passes”
Private nurses, doctors & other medical staff, and journalists will be allowed on the streets with ID cards. Exceptions will also be made for pregnant women and those needing treatment.
Those traveling to or from the airport, train and bus stations will be allowed on the road if they show their tickets.
The Delhi government said, “it is being enforced to check the movement of people, not essential services”.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had a press conference on Friday said “Delhi is going through the fourth wave of COVID-19 but a lockdown is not being considered yet.”
On Monday, Delhi recorded 3,548 new cases, still below its peak of nearly 9,000 in November, when it was one of the worst-hit cities across the nation.
States like Maharashtra and Rajasthan have also launched night curfews to restrict movement in the middle of a spike in Covid cases across the country.
Maharashtra has announced a weekend lockdown and a tough 8 pm to 7 am curfew. Rajasthan’s night curfew is from 8 pm to 6 am.
