On the 65 Filmfare award held on 15 February 2020, the film “Gully Boy” won almost all the major awards from the best film to best actors to best lyrics to the best-supporting actor. A Zoya Akhtar film starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh as lead actors, who won the best leading actor and actress award respectively, is all about the talent and struggle of a rapper in Mumbai slum area. Akhtar also got the title of the best director for this film.
Gully boy won 13 awards in total and
overtook Rani Mukherji’s and Amitabh Bachan’s film
“Black” which begged 11 awards in 2006.
However, everyone doesn’t share the same view. Such one individual went to a height of making changes in the Filmfare page of Wikipedia by editing Gully boy’s award as “PAID”. Many others were also not happy about it. 2019 gave many other great films as ‘Article 15’ or ‘Super 30’ or ‘Kesari’ that deserves an award more than Gully Boy.
Manoj Muntashir the lyricist of ‘Teri Mitti’ from the film ‘Kesari’ was also sceptical about the song ‘Apna Time Ayega’ winning the best lyrics. He showed his anger by writing on social media that they fail to honour the words that made millions o people care and cry for their motherland and he also promised to not to attend any other award show till his last breath.
Many other angry fans also went on the Filmfare page of Wikipedia to alter the information of the best film by adding ‘paid award’ in bract. Wikipedia is a platform where anybody can change, alter or delete or add information about anything. This matter has gone to such an extent where people are tweeting with #boycottfilmfare.
