Chinese smartphone maker Oppo recently unveiled its first 5G smartphone series, Find X2, to tap the ultra-premium opportunity in the Indian market, and to establish its presence as a full-range player to take on the likes of Samsung
The Find X2 series is a successor to Find X smartphone, which was launched in 2018, and garnered eyeballs due to its futuristic pop-up camera design and notch-less display. However, the latest phone isn’t about the design, rather about its top-end specifications, which include the Snapdragon 865 chipset, 12GB of RAM, a 120Hz QHD+ display, and 60x periscopic zoom lens. Let’s see what it has to offer:
Oppo Find X2 Pro Review : Design and Display
Oppo Find X2 Pro comes with a completely different design when you compare it with its predecessor. The design, which is not revolutionary, but looks premium with curved ceramic back with micro etching. Additionally, like its predecessor Find X, the latest smartphone doesn’t feature a pop-up camera, which has now allowed the company to add the IP68 dust and water certification, which you will like in a flagship phone.
The phone comes with a 6.7-inch OLED QHD+ (3,168 x 1,440) display with a 93.1 percent screen-to-body ratio. With a 120Hz curved-edge AMOLED QHD+ panel with HDR10+ support, the display is almost similar to the OnePlus 8 Pro, which has a slightly bigger display at 6.78 inches display.
The 120Hz refresh rate ( at Quad HD+ resolution) and 240Hz touch sampling rate offer a better viewing and browsing experience through outstanding viewing angles. The peak brightness of a whopping 1200 nits offers an outstanding viewing experience while you binge on OTT platforms or play games.
For those who watch a lot of online videos but don’t get good experience due to lower frame rates, the brand has added the ‘Motion Clear’ feature which increases the frame of online video, resulting in a smoother video play with lesser motion jitter.
Oppo Find X2 Pro Cameras
The Find X2 Pro comes with triple cameras on the back – a 48MP Sony IMX689 primary shooter, a 13MP camera with a periscopic 5x telephoto lens, and a 48MP 120-degree ultra-wide angle. So, the main camera shoots 12MP images and combines 4 pixels into one for more details.
This results in better colour accuracy in daylight conditions. On top of it, this sensor supports All Pixel Omni-Direction PDAF to focus on the subject in an extremely fast manner. The ultra-wide camera also takes good pictures but the details and quality were not as good as the primary camera. This also supports the night mode.
The telephoto lens on the Find X2 Pro is the main highlight as it offers 5x optical zoom. However, you can switch to hybrid zoom, but you end up losing some details and sharpness. The quality it offered was still good till 30x hybrid zoon.
However, the 60x zoom may not offer sharp images. The front-facing 32-megapixel camera captures 8-megapixel binned photos and does a good job with colour accuracy. The Find X2 Pro 5G smartphone supports up to 4K video recording at 60fps with great image stabilization using OIS coupled with the Ultra Steady Video 2.0 mode.
Performance: Oppo Find X2 Pro is powered by the 2.84GHz Snapdragon 865 SoC paired with 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. The device handled all intensive tasks smoothly, including video editing (via Sloop) and graphic-rich games that run smoothly.
However, playing PUBG on the highest graphics settings possible did make the phone heat up slightly. But, in totality, the device offers a truly-flagship experience. The phone also features dual speakers and Dolby Atmos that offers amazing entertainment experience.
Battery: The device comes features a dual-cell battery, each being a 2,130mAh cell to offer a total of 4,260mAh capacity, which allows both batteries to charge quickly without overheating with the help of 65W Super VOOC 2.0 charging technology. The technology allows the device to completely charge in 43-46 minutes. This is one capability that any consumer would like in his/her flagship phone.
Oppo Find X2 Pro Review: The Find X2 Pro is one of the great options for those looking to buy a flagship smartphone. Top-notch specs coupled with its camera make it a strong contender in the market which already offers OnePlus 8 Pro, the Xiaomi Mi 10, and Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus as options.
